Updates

So much has happened in the last week.  Ellie broke her first tooth!  I could feel it free of skin on Thursday the 26th.  She also has officially started crawling, although just barely.  She's getting up on hands and knees and a few times she's moved one knee forward before getting on her belly.  Saturday was the first time, very exciting.

We planted our peach tree and avocado tree and are trying to figure out what to do in the backyard next.  I spent a few hours today painting the girls' bathroom, pics will follow once it's done.

Okay, I guess it doesn't sound like much on paper, but it's felt busy!

7 months

I can't believe Elayna's already 7 months old.  Time is flying by and she changes so much every day.  Right now she's:

Still not crawling.  I'm okay with this :)
Size 2 diapers
Still in 3 month clothes although beginning to fit in 6-9 month outfits without being swallowed up by them.
Eating more solids - loves avocados, broccoli, green beans, watermelon, she's going to be a very healthy eater!
Constantly talking
Her hair is getting even lighter
Eyes are still blue - I think they're going to stay this color
Into EVERYTHING

And currently has Dom's tail in her mouth.  He doesn't seem too bothered by it!

Took photos this morning and she was in a grumpy mood so they're pretty funny:

Yes, I did buy this outfit 'cause the butt says LOVE :)

Love the bumbo but I don't think she'll fit much longer

I can almost hear her saying "huh?"

I love you, Ellie belly!

My little ham

Totally bragging post, but Ellie is seriously the most photogenic baby out there!  And she totally hams it up for the camera.  I took these at daycare this morning:

We call this lizard face!

I'm flying!!

Can't figure out how to rotate the ones that are the wrong direction.  So you'll just have to pick up your screens and rotate manually :)

Books Read in 2011...so far

Last year I logged every book I read for the whole year.  It had a nice ring to it, Books Read in 2010.  Anyway, I read (or as Daniel says, inhaled) 64 books last year.  Yes, they were all real, grown up books :)  Nothing with pictures.

This year he challenged me to read 100 books.  Shoot, full-time job, newborn, moving, all I could think was why the heck not.  Finished book number 32 today.  And that's not even counting all the board books!

1.        The Amber Room by T. Davis Bunn
2.       American Assassin by Vince Flynn
3.       The Winter Palace by T. Davis Bunn
4.       Imposter by Davis Bunn
5.       The Hiding Place by Karen Harper
6.       The Cold One by Christopher Pike
7.       Falling by Christopher Pike
8.       Among Thieves by David Hosp
9.       The Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly
10.   Angel’s Flight by Michael Connelly
11.   When the Devil Whistles by Rick Acker
12.   Black Madonna by Davis Bunn
13.   The Templar Conspiracy by Paul Christopher
14.   The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury
15.   My Before and After Life by Risa Miller
16.   The Key to Rebecca by Ken Follett
17.   If Chins Could Kill: My Life as a B Movie Actor by Bruce Campbell
18.   Foul Play by Janet Evanovich
19.   Storm Front by Jim Butcher
20.   Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
21.   Grave Peril by Jim Butcher
22.   Summer Knight by Jim Butcher
23.   Death Masks by Jim Butcher
24.   Blood Rites by Jim Butcher
25.   Dead Beat by Jim Butcher
26.   Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher
27.   White Knight by Jim Butcher
28.   Small Favor by Jim Butcher
29.   Turn Coat by Jim Butcher
30.   Changes by Jim Butcher
31.   Side Jobs by Jim Butcher
32.   The Passage by Justin Cronan
The best thing about this has been finding new authors.  I love love love love (have I mentioned how much I love) The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher.  New book (Ghost Story) comes out next month and I can't wait.
The book I finished today, The Passage, was incredible.  Truly left me wanting more.  So I went online to discover...

It's the first in a triology!  Next one doesn't come out until 2012 (boo) but I have something to look forward to.  I just started Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.  It's been grabbing my eyes for awhile, so I figured why not.
So, I'm sure you're all wondering, how on Earth do I find so much time to read?  Well, I keep falling asleep sitting up, trying to squeeze one more chapter in.  But that has more to do with being engrossed in the books than meeting the challenge.  I also find I watch very little TV anymore (unless on for background while cleaning).  Lunch breaks, weekends, I can find any excuse to read!

PS - sorry about the weird font alignement after the list of books.  Don't know why it did that and can't figure out how to fix :)

Lucky

It's really easy to lose sight of what matters and to get frustrated with the little things.  As I hold my wonderful baby in my arms (after hours of her crying, refusing to sleep), I just want to take a moment and realize how lucky I am.

Dear Comcast

You suck.

We moved last Saturday (yay!) and went with DirectTV for TV instead of Comcast.  But Comcast still has the fastest internet around, so we were stuck still using them.  Of course, when we called last week to set up an installation time/date, they couldn't come out until yesterday, Thursday, May 5th.  Also known as...

Cinco de Courtney!

Yup, my b-day.  Our window of arrival time was noon to 2:00 pm.  At 2:15, Daniel called to find out where the guy was.  He was told it would be another 45 minutes.  He finally showed up at 5:00 pm.  And no, Comcast never called to let us know he was running that late.

He took a look at our house and within a few minutes said he wasn't certified to do 2 story buildings.  So we had two choices, reschedule with someone else on another day or he could run the line outside and drill into our brick.

Two words.  Hell No.

At this point I was steaming mad.  Daniel got on the phone with Comcast and they said they could send someone out.  On Tuesday.

We finally had to settle for putting our wireless router upstairs (no biggie) but now we'll have to get a wireless card for the computer hooked to the TV in the living room.

It just amazes me what passes for customer service at some companies.  Sorry to inconvenience you with my money.
